The Juneau-Douglas Ice Association youth hockey teams, the Capitals, hosted rival Whitehorse recently at Treadwell Ice Arena. The only info made available to the news media was the following Bantam wrap up by coach Mark Kaelke.
The JDIA Capitals Bantam Travel Squad faced off with the Whitehorse Midgets last weekend for a two game international hockey series. Although the bantam squad was out-matched in size, speed and experience they hung tough with Whitehorse and gained valuable experience towards the total domination of their opponents at the Alaska State Tournament in March. After an 11-1 loss in the contest Saturday they came out Sunday with an improved fore-check and skated to a 7-1 loss. Juneau net minder Michael White turned back a barrage of shots over the weekend and forwards Quin Gist and Hunter Pegues tallied for the bantams.
