Photo: A Masterful Pool Program

Posted: January 18, 2013 - 1:10am
The Glacier Swim Club started a competitive swim program for master swimmers (19 and older) in November. Here, Juneau Masters coach Kristin Jones, left, talks to athletes during an evening swim at Dimond Park Aquatic Center on Wednesday. Over 40 adults are currently in the program and it is expected to keep growing through the first year. Team members will be swimming in the GSC Open this weekend. There has been a small masters option in Juneau for years but it has been restricted to three 1-hour practices downtown only at 5:30 a.m. GSC has expanded the program to nine practices per week at downtown and the Dimond Park Aquatic Center with early mornings, lunchtime, and evening options. The program is a great, healthy option for Juneau adults. Look for an upcoming story in sports next week. For more information on the masters program contact GSC at 523-0840.
