The 67th annual Gold Medal Basketball tournament is promising to bring more of the fast excitement to the popular B Division this year.
10 teams will try to rule the hardwood flooring at Juneau-Douglas High School gymnasium March 17-23 in the fast-paced B contests. B teams are Angoon, Kake, Klukwan, Hoonah, Hydaburg, Haines, Wrangell, Yakutat, Metlakatla and Sitka. Wrangell is rumoured to have various members of the Young family playing, possibly and Angerman and an Appleman but we won’t know until the final rosters are set.
The C Division is at six teams: Angoon, Yakutat, Hydaburg, Klukwan, Kake and Hoonah. The Masters Division also retains six teams: Kake, Klukwan, Hoonah, Yakutat, Klawock and Juneau Alliance.
The tournament seedings will be held live on Capital Chat on Thursday at 8:30 a.m., so hopefully teams will get some love and a good matchup for the first round. Other announcements will include the chance for a fan to win a new Ford car on championship night. A tournament pass costs $40 for Senior/Student/Youth and $50 for General admission.
