Punctuated by a one-hand dunk by Darren Edenshaw, and a sideline triple by Devin Edenshaw, Hydaburg lived to play another day by rousting Yakutat out of the 67th Annual Gold Medal Basketball Tournament 98-60 on Tuesday evening.
Hydaburg will play Metlakatla at 7:30 p.m. tonight in another elimination game.
The dunk and the triple came with roughly one-minute left in the massacre.
Hydaburg was hardly threatened in the game and led at the half 54-27.
Vinnie Edenshaw scored a game-high 22 points with six triples and Hydaburg hit from beyond the arch 15 times. Darren Edenshaw added 17 points, Jeb Phillips and Tyler Bell 14 apiece, Eric Hamilton eight, Tony Edenshaw six, Kurt Edenshaw four and Greg Frisby two.
Yakutat was led by David Brown’s 12 points, Robert Sensmeier added 11, Martin Sensmeier 10, Robin Brantley eight, Jay Sin and Sam Ferguson six apiece, Ralph Wolfi five and Jake Taylor two.
Hydaburg hit 7-9 at the charity stripe, Yakutat was 2-8.
