Steve Fossman nailed eight 3 pointers to lead his Klukwan squad to a berth in the Masters bracket’s championship game with a 78-60 win against the Juneau Alliance on Thursday night at the Gold Medal Basketball Tournament.
Fossman finished with a game-high 26 points.
Klukwan took an early 12-2 lead and built it steadily during the game, but did not truly pull away until a 13-5 run gave them a 63-42 edge near the midway point of the second half. Ed Mercer scored 21 points and Doug Drazkowski added 15 – including three 3-pointers – to keep Juneau in the game.
Rob LaRose chipped in 21 points, Jeff Shannbroich 14 and Chris Wassman 10 for the victors. Sean Joslyn scored 10 for the Alliance.
Klukwan will await the winner of an elimination game between Juneau Alliance and Kake at 5:30 p.m. today. The championship game is scheduled for a 4 p.m. Saturday tip-off.

I have often thought that "young Kyle Fossman must make his Daddy so proud!" But, after this game, young Kyle must be SO proud of his Dad! I mean, 8 THREE POINTERS and a total of 26 points?? Wow! And you Fossman ladies have so much to be proud of too! Congrats on a great season!
