Travis Dybdahl scored 30 points and Lucas Johnson 24 as Hoonah advanced to Saturday’s C Bracket Championship game of the 67th Annual Gold Medal Basketball Tournament over Klukwan 92-68 on Thursday night.
Hoonah hit 11 shots from beyond the arch including two apiece from Dybdahl, Johnson and Kamal Lindoff in the first half.
Hoonah led 57-38 at the break.
Baskets by Johnson, Kamal Lindoff and Andy Gray jump started Hoonah to a 70-50 advantage at the 14:16 mark.
Baskets by David Buss and Luck Dunbar kept Klukwan on pace. Buss brought Klukwan to within 16 points with 9:24 remaining but Anthony Lindoff and Dybdahl answered with back-to-back triples to regain momentum to the 92-68 final.
Hoonah – Dybdahl 30, Johnson 24, Anthony Lindoff 15, Kamal Lindoff 10, Andy Gray eight, Albert Hinchman three, and Paul Johansen two.
Klukwan – Jason Shull 23, Stuart DeWitt 16, Luck Dunbar nine, David Buss eight, Jackie Wyatt seven, Jessie McGraw three and Jeremy Strong two.
Hoonah hit 11-16 at the free throw line, Klukwan was 11-14.
Klukwan plays tonight at 7 p.m. in an elimination game against Hydaburg. The winner of that game advances to face Hoonah for the Gold Medal Championship at 6 p.m. Saturday.
