Kake Masters' outlast Hoonah 61-51

The Kake Masters eliminated Hoonah 61-51 and will get another chance to work into a title defense of their Gold Medal Masters Championship.

A balanced attack led by Willis Cavanaugh’s 14 points and 13 from Mike Knudson kept pace with the game-high scoring of Hoonah’s Ken Willard.

Kip Howard added nine points for Kake, Mike Martin seven, Lonnie Anderson six, Wayne Friday five, Don James four, and Tim James three.

Kake hit 16-23 at the free throw line, Hoonah connected on just three-of-10.

Kake will play another elimination game against the loser of Thursday night’s Klukwan and Juneau-Alliance winners bracket semifinal.
