Local Weekend Sports Action

Soccer highlights the local sports action in Juneau as the Crimson Bears boy’s and girl’s teams and the Falcons’ boys will get a chance to play the visiting Chugiak Mustangs. The annual Eaglecrest Slush Cup returns on Saturday as does a morning “practice” track meet with JDHS and TMHS. If the afore mentioned activities catches your attention the Juneau Adult Hockey Association is playing their championship games on Sunday at Treadwell Arena. Sunday night features flag football championships but calls have not been returned and game times and location have not been made available to the paper by presstime.

JDHS girls sweep 3A Sitka

Early in the third quarter and leading by seven points, Kendyl Carson and Caitlin Pusich traded 3-point attempts, each missing two in a row on an extended Crimson Bears possession. It was that kind of night for the Juneau-Douglas High School girls basketball team. Fortunately, visiting Sitka also shot poorly, and JDHS escaped Friday with a 41-31 win.
