In a double-header at Melvin Park 2 on Thursday evening the Juneau-Douglas Crimson Bears girl’s softball team toppled Wasilla 20-3 behind the pitching of Kayla Balovich and the rain slicked surfaces of Southeast. The visiting Warriors got a taste of revenge in the second game against Thunder Mountain as the rain let up. After the Falcons came back from a 7-0 deficit the Warriors put in 10 runs for the win in four innings. JDHS and Wasilla play today at 5 p.m. while the Falcons are on the road at Sitka. The Falcons boy’s baseball team plays Ketchikan today at 4 p.m. at Melvin Park and the Crimson Bears’ baseball team play the Kings at 7 p.m. at Melvin Park. See the local sports schedule on Page B3 for weekend action.


Bohulano, Swofford dazzle on senior night

The Juneau-Douglas boys basketball team saw an early 17 point lead evaporate by the fourth quarter, but summoned just enough strength to win over Ketchikan Saturday night.
