Alaska Beatdown lightweight mixed martial arts Champion Eddie Hoch, with a record of seven wins and four losses, will be the featured bout on Friday’s Alaska Beatdown 13 Summer Solstice Slam.
Hoch is unbeaten in Southeast Alaska competition taking and will be taking on Oregon-based Tucker Cook (3-0), a college wrestler who is working and living in Hoonah.
Doors open at Centennial Hall at 7 p.m. and preliminary bouts begin at 8 p.m.
The semi-main event will feature another Oregon-based wrestler named Payton Moore taking on Juneau’s top welterweight Jonathan Morford who is unbeaten at the AK Beatdown and is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu blue belt and Gracie certified jiu-jitsu instructor at Complete Warrior Academy.
“This is going to be a great night of action,” Alaska Beatdown organizer Russ Stevens said.
The night will feature the beginning of a regional rivalry, as Team Hoonah brings several talented fighters to take on Juneau’s best.
Hoonah’s Mitch Zarazua against Juneau’s Tyrell Kleinsmith in a welterweight MMA bout is one example of action against the ropes and on the canvas.
Other fights include a women’s MMA bout between Harmony Morford and Kylee Larsen in a classic grappler/striker match-up.
The card will also feature father and son sharing the ring (at separate times) as Juneau boxing legend Al Perkins and son Alex Valentine both compete in different weight classes.
Other confirmed fighters include: Bubba Larsen, Isaac Friday (Kake), Clifford White, Asma Fifita and Sean Prebeg.
