Juneau's GCLL All-Star teams are chosen

The Gastineau Channel Little League has selected 63 youth ball players to represent Juneau in post-season tournament play. The players compose five All Star teams, two from softball and three from baseball, and have begun practices for tournaments held around Alaska in July.

Softball All Stars will travel to Anchorage for the state championship tournament, and baseball All Stars to Sitka, Wrangell, and Ketchikan for district level competitions.

Teams that win tournaments will advance to the next level of competition towards the Little League World Series.

All Stars teams are comprised of players with excellent skill and sportsmanship. A volunteer manager and two volunteer coaches will lead each team. Athletes are chosen for upper division teams by a private balloting process. Players select the first five team members, coaches select the second five players, and the All Star team manager picks the final 2 or 3 team members. Players in AAA Minor baseball earn a spot on the All Star team based on their performance at a competitive tryout process. Each player pays a fee to participate in All Stars, supplemented by funds earned by the GCLL.
