Mike Singletary (born October 9, 1958) is a linebacker coach and assistant coach for the Minnesota Vikings of the NFL. Singletary was an all-state guard and linebacker at Worthing High School in Houston, Texas. He played college football for the Baylor Bears and was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the 2nd round of the NFL draft in 1981. He was known as “The Heart of the Defense” for Chicago’s Monsters of the Midway in the mid-1980s. Singletary is a 10-time Pro Bowler & 7-time First-Team All-Pro selection. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1998. After his playing days, Singletary was a linebackers coach for the Baltimore Ravens and then the San Francisco 49ers. In 2008 he became the 49ers head coach until 2010, and is now with Minnesota.
