The Juneau Lions Club is requesting letters of interest for play in the 68th Annual Gold Medal Basketball Tournament.
The Juneau Lions Club announced last week that the Board of Directors approved the dates, location and divisions in the tournament. The tournament will be held March 16-22, 2014, at the Juneau-Douglas High School gym. Player divisions for the 68th tournament will be “B,” “C,” and “Masters.” Tournament co-chairs for 2014 are Juneau Lions Club Vice Presidents Louise Kadinger, Geny Del Rosario and Greg Indreland. The vice presidents will be assisted by Ted Burke.
Club President Edward Hotch states the club received word that the Juneau Lions Club should soon receive a letter of proposal to reinstitute having a Woman’s Division. If and when the proposal is received President Hotch will assign the vice presidents and other Lions to review the proposal in detail, prepare written comments and make a recommendation to the Juneau Lions Club Board of Directors and members. The results of the club’s decisions will be released in a later press release.
At this time, the Juneau Lions Club is seeking letters of interest from all B, C, and Masters Teams interested in participating in the 2014 tournament. Any team that wishes to be considered for playing in these three divisions is asked to send a letter or an email that states the community they represent, division they desire to play, name of the team and the name of one individual who will be the team point-of-contact. The Juneau Lions Club is asking for separate letters of interest for each Division Team. All letters of interest must be received by Nov. 30. The Juneau Lions Club will make team invitation selections and send official invitations by January 3, 2014.
