Learn To Ski Adapt Day: The 5th annual Learn to Adapt Day at Eaglecrest takes place on Sunday, Jan. 19. Demonstrations on all adaptive ski and snowboard equipment will be available and participants will be invited to test the setups. Eaglecrest and the ORCA program at Southeast Alaska Independent Living (SAIL) will co-present the event. Adaptive instructors will be on-hand o provide lessons and answer questions. Lessons will cover detailed instruction, equipment demonstration, and the full adaptive experience.

Learn To Ski Weekend: The 33rd annual Learn to Ski Weekend at Eaglecrest will take place on Jan. 25-26. This is a free opportunity for skiers in the 3rd and 4th grades to learn about having fun in the snow. 45 winners will be chosen through a random drawing. Learn to Ski Weekend Applications are available at SkiJuneau.com or any Juneau public elementary school and need to be submitted by 2 p.m., Jan. 20. Forms should be returned to Julie Jackson, Snowsports School and Community Outreach Coordinator, via fax: 907-586-4584, e-mail: Julie.Jackson@SkiJuneau.com or in person at the Eaglecrest Snowsports School window. Winners announced Jan. 22. All weekend event costs are sponsored by Mendenhall Auto Subaru. Winners participate in the all-encompassing weekend, complete with lessons, rentals, lift tickets, lunch and transportation.

Reach The Peak: Sundays, (through Jan. 26) from 1-3 p.m. A four-week program for women skiers and boarders on Porcupine to Ptarmigan who want to learn how to ride more of Eaglecrest. Learn in a friendly and supportive environment. For more info go to skijuneau.com or call 790-2000 ext.211.

First Tracks: Saturdays 9:30 a.m.-noon. A great way to learn how to ski or board, designed for women skiers and boarders who are brand new and for those returning to the sport after a long absence. Taught by Eaglecrest PSIA Certified women coaches. For more info go to skijuneau.com or call Snowsports School at 790-2000 ext.211.

CROSS COUNTRY SKIING

Home, Noon, Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Day Ski Race at Eagle Beach State Park, Classic or Skate technique, hosted by Nordic Devo Ski team. Open to all ages and all abilities. Prizes and awards to all finishers. Post race party for those wanting to stay afterwards, bring a snack to share. Contact Tristan Knutson-Lombardo at 723-1772 or tkl1289@gmail.com. This race replaces the original Headlamp Race at the campground.
