Anchorage Ski Club takes early Kombi lead at Eaglecrest

Ingrim, Garrigus on top; Juneau's Jones, Chapman and Weldon in the mix

The Anchorage Ski Club grabbed the top podium placings in the Kinder Kombi at Eaglecrest Ski Area on Friday. The race is part of the US Ski And Snowboard Association NAPA Auto Parts Series and continues Saturday with the Giant Slalom and Sunday with the Slalom. The race series are Alaskan State -16 Qualifiers.

 

ASC’s April Ingrim put together the fastest two runs for the women on Friday with 59.20 seconds and 57.13 to total one minute 56.33 seconds for the top spot. Teammate Amanda Lundgren posted the fastest single run time of 56.33 in the second of two runs and finished in the runner-up position. Three skiers hit a 1:57 and some change and Hailley Jones was the top Juneau Ski Club racer with a combined 1:58.81 for seventh place and Dorothy Chapman was eighth in 2:02.80. Top Fairbanks Ski Club racer was Roan Willson with a combined 2:08.04 for 12th position.

ASC topped the men’s field as well with Adam Garrigus posting the fastest second run in 53.14 to run away with the top spot in a combined 1:49.98. Teammates Ely Cerutti (1:55.32), Charlie Lamb (1:56.15) and Garrett Mashburn (1:57.17) rounded out the top four placings. JSC’s Cody Weldon was top local racer with a 2:02.87.

Saturday’s Giant Slalom first run is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. and second run at 1:45 p.m. A Saturday evening banquet is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at the Eaglecrest Lodge. Sunday’s Slalom start is 10:30 a.m. with second run at 1:45 p.m. Awards are at 4:30 p.m. Sunday in the Eaglecrest Lodge. Awards will be given to first, second, and third place for each event and a top five for overall.
