Teen athletes in the Lynn Canal Running Camp pose on top of Mt. Juneau on Thursday before completing a run along the ridge and down Granite Creek to Perseverance Trail. Camp participants spend a week at the Methodist Camp where they sleep, make meals and socialize. Running activities go throughout the Juneau trail system. Local adults mentor the runners on nutrition, healthy relationships, sports psychology, running technique, running after high school, and core strengthening “As well as plenty of time spent cooking and bonding” according to counselor Merry Ellefson. Ellefson and Tristan Knutson-Lombardo lead the campers with numerous adult volunteers. Youth from across Alaska are attending the running camp.
