Juneau’s Christopher “CJ” Umbs is off to a fast start at the 2015 Special Olympics’ 14th annual World Summer Games in Los Angeles.
Umbs won a bronze medal in Sunday’s 100-meter backstroke. Umbs placed third with a score of 00:02:20.76 according to a Special Olympics press release.
Umbs competed in the classification round for the 4x100 meter free relay on Monday. Results were not available by press time.
Teammate Christine Quick, also from Juneau, swam in the 100-meter freestyle on Monday. Quick finished in seventh place with a score of 00:01:47.24.
