The final score of Tuesday night’s Juneau-Douglas High School softball win over Thunder Mountain was the least important moment of the night.

In fact, it did not matter at all.

The score could have been 2-1 or 20-1.

The Crimson Bears could have lost and the Falcons could have won.

To put the game into perspective, one only had to see the color of the opposing uniforms:

The Crimson Bears’ Pink Out Game for Cancer Awareness.

Thunder Mountain High School freshman Naomi Welling will be one of a selected group of Southeast track and field athletes to participate at the Brian Young Invitational in Kodiak, all expenses paid. The top two athletes from each event at the High School State Track & Field Championships were selected, regardless of divisions, to participate. The teams are divided into three regions (5/6, 2/3, and 4-all Anchorage).

JDHS Crimson Bears’ softball seniors Rachel Doogan and Malin Murray were honored on Wednesday night at Melvin Park during the Pink Out cancer awarness game against Thunder Mountain. The teams also held A Swing At Cancer, where players were sponsored by fans and hit a softball for donations. The night was also senior appreciation for the Crimson Bears’ Rachel Doogan and Malin Murray.

My golfing buddies will be so upset.

If I were a big fan of professional sports, I would be paying close attention to the stories at the bottom of this page.

Unfortunately (?) I am not.

The Yankees I prefer to watch throw baseballs, and tantrums, can be found just around the corner at Melvin Park or Gasineau Elementary… and I tend to only check out professional golf when looking for comfortable Halloween attire and landscaping tips.
