Panel names Fairbanks judgeship finalists

JUNEAU — The Alaska Judicial Council has chosen three finalists for a Fairbanks judgeship.

The candidates for the Fairbanks District Court vacancy are James Cannon, Matthew Christian and Nelson Traverso. The vacancy was created by the appointment of Jane F. Kauvar to the Fairbanks Superior Court.

Gov. Sean Parnell has 45 days to choose her replacement.

According to information provided by the council, Cannon and Traverso are each in private practice in Fairbanks and have been practicing law for over 30 years. Christian is a magistrate judge in Kenai who has been practicing law for 11 ½ years.
