Soldotna eases parking rules

KENAI — Soldotna’s strict parking space rules have just gotten easier.

The Soldotna City Council has voted to significantly relax the city’s parking codes for businesses.

Now businesses must have one parking spot for every 300 square feet of retail space, up from the old ratio of one spot for every 200 square feet.

Council member Kyle Fisher says the change approved recently will encourage people to beautify their lots and give them the opportunity to expand their buildings.
