WASHINGTON — Sarah Palin’s husband on Thursday called a book critical of his family “disgusting lies, innuendo and smears” as the former Alaska governor’s camp sought to discredit a racy biography that includes allegations of infidelity and drug use.

As Sarah Palin weighs a White House bid, her husband released a statement seeking to blunt the fallout from Joe McGinniss’ “The Rogue: Searching for the Real Sarah Palin.”

Palin allies also released another denial from the man alleged to have carried on an affair with Sarah Palin.

“This is a man who has been relentlessly stalking my family to the point of moving in right next door to us to harass us and spy on us to satisfy his creepy obsession with my wife,” Todd Palin wrote of McGinniss. “His book is full of disgusting lies, innuendo and smears. Even The New York Times called this book ‘dated, petty,’ and that it ‘chases caustic, unsubstantiated gossip.’”

The Republicans’ 2008 vice presidential nominee and former governor of Alaska made no new reference on her Facebook account to McGinniss’ book, although Sarah Palin previously mocked McGinniss for moving into a rented house next door to the Palin home.

“We’re sure to have a doozey to look forward to with this treasure he’s penning,” Sarah Palin wrote last year. “Wonder what kind of material he’ll gather while overlooking Piper’s bedroom, my little garden and the family’s swimming hole?”

McGinniss’ book also repeats allegations first published in The National Enquirer that Sarah Palin carried on an affair with Brad Hanson, Todd Palin’s former business partner.

In a statement released through Palin allies, Hanson again denied the allegation.

“This is the same old story that went around in 2008. It is a complete and outright lie,” Hanson said. “Todd and Sarah Palin have been good friends for many years, and in fact we still own property together. We sold a former joint business venture for business reasons, nothing more. These attacks are shameful and those making them seem to be out only to destroy good people and make money doing so.”

Appearing on NBC’s “Today Show,” McGinniss defended his reporting.

“I think I was as fair as I could possibly have been given the fact that she told all the people who were closest to her not to talk to me,” he said.

Go ahead and sue

Put your money where your mouth is, Todd. If you feel Sarah has been libeled - file a complaint. Otherwise don't waste everyone's time with your righteous indignation. We're tired of it.

Wonder how much she is paying him to help keep her name in the press? "‘dated, petty,’ and that it ‘chases caustic, unsubstantiated gossip.’” Sounds like a normal Palin day!

Regarding those who read either his book or Palin's:

Who cares !

Unpublished

Who cares Todd, you don't have to work anymore, you can just live off yer old lady's apron strings. Maybe you should have talked all this over with your family before you started parading all around the world stage, just think, now you all are right up there with people like Charlie Sheen, Lindsey Hohan and her dad, lady ga ga, Amy Crackhouse . Dose Sarah still wear an apron anymore or is she above all that ?

What else could Todd say.

Todd would never say anything about Sarah that would support any of the statements made about her. Except of course should there ever be a divorce and he writes his own tell all book.

Handed an opportunity to do

Handed an opportunity to do some good for this country the Palins choose to side with the devil.

Scrutiny and criticism

When one is running to be mayor of Wasilla, or even Governor of Alaska, the scrutiny and investigation into one's life can be fairly superficial. But once a person from Alaska seeks a national political office, or says they might do so, the media and others will scour every source possible to find out whatever they can about the person, whether it is true or not.
The Palins have to accept the fact that if Sarah seeks a national political office, the media vultures will descend and try to tear apart and get whatever they can even if the prey is still living.

Civil Discourse?

Wally, THANK you for a more reasoned and objective comment than all the ones above yours, put together! All the rabid and petty Palin-bashing that went on here before wmolson's 'Scrutiny and criticism' piece remind me of why, after 38 years here in the cap city, I'm feeling like it's time to go and live elsewhere. I don't consider myself a huge Palin fan, but just imagining a decent family (they are) with young kids in the position this yeahoo put them in, I don't envy her wealth or fame or anything else. Sick people with mean attitudes - c'mon neighbors, it's not even winter yet! Your comments cause me to see you as jealous and a little unbalanced. Lighten up! It's that time of year, we need all the light we can muster.

Thank you aukebay. Maybe

Thank you aukebay. Maybe there is some hope for Alaska afterall! The disgusting filth in the other posts is quite disheartening.

wally, even you have to admit that the Palins have had more scrutiny than any other politician in probably even your lifetime. It's not just ordinary scrutiny either - it's been taken to the nth degree and way beyond anything nearing civility.

I'm glad to see that you're calling out the "media vultures" for what they are. If only the lamestream, so-called journalists had given the same scrutiny to Obama...

Mary Hartman! Mary Hartman---!

Remember that spoof soap opera from the 70's? I think Palin's best bet is to get the heck out of politics and do the reality show version of that---Call it, "Sarah Palin! Sarah Palin!"

Sure, she's got a big ol' goofy family just like the rest of us---She could use some lightening up herself, and she chose to use at least some of her children as props on the national stage anyway: Why not make a living making some fun of her own crazy phenomenon---She'd have an avid audience, and she might win a few popularity points back, if we didn't have to worry about her making decisions in our name again...

It comes to mind that she launched her national campaign as an attack dog---Feeding and magnifying the fear and hatred of her audience deliberately. Politics is a dirty game, and her "persona" has not in fact cleaned it up any, even at the state level---I think comedy might be the only thing she has left.

As far as the McGinness novel goes---Doesn't interest me, and the more I hear about it, the more that's true. Really, who cares? I know enough about Queen Palin to last me a hundred years, and am glad we're finally getting to a news cycle where we don't hear her name or opinions literally every day.

Good night and good luck

Grow up, jamison. What grade

Grow up, jamison. What grade are you in?

Maybe you should just write your thoughts about "Queen Palin" in your diary and keep them to yourself.

Didn't your mother ever tell you, after she told you to vote for BO, if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all?

Maybe you could give us an analysis of Obama before you head off to bed. Now that I'd be interested in.

excuse ME...

Did I hit a nerve there, calypso? Sorry about that...

Just making some observations and a few suggestions I think actually have some merit, so don't get your shorts in a bundle over my off-hand comments...

While it's true that I don't agree with her politics and don't especially like hearing about her EVERY DAY,(not that that's really all HER fault) and don't care for the thought of her in an elected position making decisions in my name, I bear the Palins no especial ill will, and would, and have, treated them with every courtesy on the rare times I have encountered them.

Actually she was quite decent to me, and even went out of her way to talk to me for a few moments, and I'm hardly the visual representation of her consumer demographic!

The public creature Palin has become is not entirely her fault---She's just playing the game like many would in her position, and if money and fame are any guage doing rather well at it.

As I said, I'm not interested in the taudry gossip of books like McGinniss's; and if I had the chance to make fun of myself in a nationally televized reality show, I'd probably take it, so it was perhaps less mocking a comment than you took it.

Sweet dreams

So... Why

does Sarah feel this need to spout off about everyone she disagrees with (or says she disagrees with) but when people say similar things about her she lashes out? She thinks she has it bad? If Sarah had to deal with all the mixed nuts and their insidious right wing rhetoric that our president does, she would be hiding in a bunker! Think I'm wrong? Well, just how many people are in prison after plotting her death? Zero, that's how many. Dozens and dozens have plotted our presidents death, and that's just the ones the Secret Service knows of. Sarah has gotten rich off of her schtick, but she is no victim. Most of America knows she is a right wing fraud and lapdog.

Mission accomplished though. Jamison had to walk back his comments and explain himself.

Let's just say that you'd be very surprised if I showed up to "drink a few beers". I'll pass on the weed.

Todd comes out pounding his chest against the critique of his family?? I side with spamcans comment!

I agree that the Palins were in fact handed an opportunity to do some good and just look what this family has done with it!

They choose the root of all evil, ramped up violence all across this country, causing how many people to be killed; they decided to be the torch bearers for the likes of Donald Trump, Glen Beck & Rush Limbaugh! All these individuals represent the worst of what it means to be human!

The Palins are a black mark against our Great state of Alaska!

A Cherokee Legend An old

A Cherokee Legend

An old Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life. "A fight is going on inside me," he said to the boy.

"It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil - he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego." He continued, "The other is good - he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. The same fight is going on inside you - and inside every other person, too."

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, "Which wolf will win?"

The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."

"walk back"?

sorry, "calypso", once again I'm not sure I know what you're talking about---I was just trying to explain myself to some anonymous poster who seemed to have gotten bent out of shape by one of my comments...

No, my friend; people who are afraid to use their names don't have the ability to get me to "walk back" anything.

Its amazing the whole she has dug trying to get out of the [filtered word] she has gotten her self in. But never the less she is a quitter, and we dont vote for quitters, no matter how hard she tries to make up for it.

Read Joe McGinness' desperate email to Jesse Griffin that was leaked to Breitbart. In it McGinniss pleads for some proof to substantiate the allegations in his book on the Palins.

Big payday coming for the Palins, possibly?
