ANCHORAGE — U.S. Army officials in Alaska are withholding details behind the arrest of a 22-year-old soldier suspected of espionage, but they stressed Wednesday there is no connection with the case involving an Army analyst suspected of disclosing secret intelligence to WikiLeaks.
Authorities also said Spc. William Colton Millay, of Owensboro, Ky., didn’t transmit any information.
Millay was arrested Friday at a barracks room at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage. He is expected to be charged through the military justice system later this week.
Millay, a military police officer, was being held without bail at the Anchorage Correctional Facility.
Army Lt. Col. Bill Coppernoll said Millay’s arrest stems from an ongoing investigation conducted by the Army and FBI.
Coppernoll said few details were being released and that the case was very early in the legal process. But unlike the WikiLeaks case targeting Army analyst Bradley Manning, allegations against Millay do “not involve the transfer of data on computer networks,” Coppernoll said.
“Also important to note is that because of the close coordination between Army Counterintelligence and the FBI, any information that might have been transferred was stopped,” he said in an email. “Millay was being observed well before any damage could have occurred.”
FBI spokesman Eric Gonzalez also declined to provide details.
“It’s a joint investigation,” he said. “But the Army will actually bring charges and try him the military justice system.”
Attempts to reach Millay’s attorney were not successful. The name of a private attorney in Anchorage was provided by the Army as Millay’s legal representative, but the attorney said any arrangements were not yet official or certain.

As descendants of the illegal European immigrants who invaded indignous lands to steal the resources and lands, enslaving, murdering, and committing genocide on the Indignous in order to do it, and enslaving the survivors to concentration camps on lands the whites deemed worthless.. Most whites in America refuse to admit and acknowledge the policies of the American government, their European and Israeli counterparts are nothing but theft and murder and result in terrorist attacks by people affected by the policies of colonialism foisted on them by us, on behalf of whoever is bribing our government.
To do so, they'll be forced to admit and acknowledge to the world, they are guilty of theft and murder and are ultimately responsible for the murder of 3,000 Americans on 9/11.
As whites who partook in the genocide and enslavement of Indigenous, and descendants who continue to steal our resources and lands, you all lack the insight, or perspective of people who have been enslaved and wiped out to clear the way for the rape of their resources and lands. And for that, as long as you let the thieves and murderers who run your foreign policy of theft and murder, as well as run your lives minutely with your knowledge and culpability, you forever leave yourselves and us open to terrorist attacks.
That is why the demise of Wikileaks is so important to thieves and murderers. It stops the flow of opening up secrets and actions of thieves and murderers who need to keep their policies of theft and murder locked up in locked safes behind hidden locked doors away from the prying eyes who would be the demise of the thieves and murderers if their policies and actions were brought before the world.
Ask yourself why America refuses to join the International Criminal Court at the Hague, although it helped deliver Japanese and German prisoners for world justice, including the same torture techniques America self legalized.It's easy for me to come to a conclusion. As followers of thieves and murderers, you have to come to a different conclusion to justify continuing the same policies of theft and murder.
