Tires slashed on 6 cars

Police are investigating two recent tire slashing sprees in the valley and Douglas after several Juneau residents reported damage to their vehicles on Monday.

Vandals late Sunday evening slashed the tires of four cars parked near Thunder Mountain Mobile Park and two cars in Douglas — one in the 300 block of E Street and the other in the 800 block of Fourth Street. It’s uncertain if the two events are related.

“It’s too early to tell right now,” Juneau Police Department Sgt. Paul Hatch said Thursday. “We’re still looking at the circumstances.”

The estimated total damage is about $1,000. No charges had been filed and no suspects had been identified by Thursday. The investigation is ongoing.
