ANCHORAGE — Two protests converged Thursday at Anchorage city hall.
One group protested the city’s new ban on sitting on the sidewalk in downtown Anchorage. The other protested what they see as a war on Christmas.
In all fewer than 25 people took part during the noontime demonstration with police and security looking on.
The peaceful protest included the singing of Christmas songs to protest what participants see as the removal of religion from the holiday, including the phrase “Happy Holidays” instead of “Merry Christmas.”
Members also sang a song in Latin to protest English only laws.

...whether it be Solstice, Yule, Hannukah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, New Years, or something else, like maybe a long weekend or two: May they be filled with light and love, good friends and family, or just a little peace and quiet if that's what floats your boat!
Merry Christmas
And Merry Christmas to the rest of you too!
Blitzkrieg on Grinchitude
Christmas is the whole reason why we put a tree inside our houses, hang socks above our fireplaces, drink egg flavored milk, tazer each other to get Sesame Street toys at WalMart, watch 24 hours of "A Christmas Story", make out under twigs, eat enough cookies and pastries until we look like one (i.e. muffin top) and litter our yards with plastic ornaments.
So there is no "Season Greetings" or "Happy Holiday(s)". It's about Christmas, regardless if you celebrate the birth of Jesus or not! Nice to see someone sticking up for what nearly all of us go nuts for by the time the Thanksgiving turkey hits our small intestines.
Merry Christmas!
Gauisus feriae, quisque. Now

Now get off my sidewalk!
MERRY FESTIVUS !
For the rest of us.

1950 era movies
I guess all the Christmas movies for the 50's era must have been the declaration of war as many times you'll hear Happy Holidays being said.

Happy HoliDAZE!

As the Burgermeister said...
Christmas has become politically incorrect, just like Halloween and Thanksgiving. Ground Hog's day is next. I'm with the Burgermeister Meisterburger on this one, "No Toys" and put Kris Kringle in jail.
Protesters
Why don't all those smelly "war on xmas" thugs just take a bath and get jobs as opposed to costing the city of Anchorage all that money to let them protest?
A few pepper sprays, tasers or police batons in the gut will teach them a lesson! Aim for the pregnant and octogenarians first!
(sarcasm intended)
So less than 25 people were
So less than 25 people were part of two separate protests. In Anchorage, the state's largest city.
Why is this newsworthy? Could it be because the BS "war on Christmas" is sensational and attracts viewers?
Hypocrisy at it’s best:
“Why don't all those smelly "war on xmas" thugs just take a bath and get jobs as opposed to costing the city of Anchorage all that money to let them protest?”
That is exactly the same way I talked about all those Flea Baggers at OWS. Which cost several cites millions for clean up. As I remember, you JO and PP road me up and down for those comments. Hypocrisy at it’s best.
I do understand though, “It’s my way or the highway.” However Merry Christmas, be safe out there.
@Milspec.: Jo was being
@Milspec.: Jo was being facetious, invoking the same kind of BS you guys did against the OWS protestors.
Notice how right-wing protestors never get that kind of treatment, be they anti-Planned Parenthood protestors or Tea Party protestors or even Westboro Baptist Church protestors (and make no mistake--they are as right-wing as you can come without being an actual terrorist).
Jo- I am starting to think
Jo- I am starting to think you are flaming on these stories.

Stop the hate speech...you are just showing your ignorance.
@Milspec
I do apologize. I admit most of my posts are drivel.
And Jo shut the **** up and have a cigarette.
(imagine hilarious laughter here)
@ Millspec, please see PP's post above. Then please read my words in parentheses, "sarcasm intended." It wasn't hypocrisy, it was using your own rationale against you. He got it, you didn't, and I am laughing my butt off as a result.
@PP: I thought we were buds on the same team. Um, I will never shut up, but thanks for the suggestion. And I'd rather eat a dead porcupine than smoke a cigarette.
@Beano: Quit throwing around the words "hate speech." Add something useful to the forum or go kiss a gun or two, but stop attacking me. I am far from ignorant. I am probably one of the more informed people in this forum.
MERRY FESTIVUS ONE AND ALL!
Hi Jo. Please notice the lack
Hi Jo. Please notice the lack of warmth in the imposter's words above (in addition to the upside down and distorted avatar, the self-censorship of profanity, the lack of wit, and the misspelling of my screen name). Warmth that is, of course, characteristic of everything I write. Sometimes even more than warmth: burning-hot rage.
My bad.
You are correct. Look at it this way, imitation is the highest form of flattery or something like that.
Hey Jo
So, who or whom assessed your intellectual level and what were their qualifications? Fact is that intelligence comes in many forms. Personally if self assessment is your method, well, we can all definitely see that you are just so brilliant.
Just say'n...
Merry Christmas everyone.
@AKJustice
Well, um, since you asked, the last IQ test I took put me in the upper two percentile. The upper 1% is considered genius.
(blushing).
MERRY FESTIVUS for the rest of us!
p.s., it's who, not whom. You're welcome.
Grammar check
Well genius not; Who is singular and whom is plural; or is it he/him or is it she/her?
Who vs. Whom
Rule:
Use the he/him method to decide which word is correct.
he = who
him = whom
Examples:
Who/Whom wrote the letter?
He wrote the letter. Therefore, who is correct.
For who/whom should I vote?
Should I vote for him? Therefore, whom is correct.
We all know who/whom pulled that prank.
This sentence contains two clauses: We all know and who/whom pulled that prank. We are interested in the second clause because it contains the who/whom. He pulled that prank. Therefore, who is correct. (Are you starting to sound like a hooting owl yet?)
We want to know on who/whom the prank was pulled.
This sentence contains two clauses: We want to know and the prank was pulled on who/whom. Again, we are interested in the second clause because it contains the who/whom. The prank was pulled on him. Therefore, whom is correct.
Seems that genius thing is slipping away.
Smart people don't go around trying to convince people they are. It just shows. Further, any test is written just for that group. anyone not part of that group will not score as well as the group members. Further still, IQ ranks as follows:
Genius IQ is generally considered to begin around 140 to 145, representing ~.25% of the population (1 in 400). Here's a rough guide:
115-124 - Above average (e.g., university students)
125-134 - Gifted (e.g., post-graduate students)
135-144 - Highly gifted (e.g., intellectuals)
145-154 - Genius (e.g., professors)
155-164 - Genius (e.g., Nobel Prize winners)
165-179 - High genius
180-200 - Highest genius
>200 - "Unmeasurable genius"
Be advised, you fail to demonstrate much above the basic level of a typing, grammar and thesaurus use of the average college attendee; no doubt above stages of common communication as you can write and we all can see that. But just below genius? How far below? I recon that two thirds of the people blogging here are in the neighborhood of 140 or so. You don't hear us bragging.
Stick to your liberal drivel and let's call it a draw!
Grammer nazi
OK, Akjustice just got the Richards Edwards award, more commonly called the dick ed award.
Merry Christmas every one.
Merry Christmas every one.
Sticks and Stones
When one resorts to name calling they loose their credibility.
Richard Edwards
When one regurgitates 9th grade grammar books and IQ statistics trying to impress they have neither credibility or an audience.
Impress?
You're obviously out of the loop on this one. You've stuck your nose into something that stunk from the beginning, and now you attempt to divert attention away by creating subterfuge. This is a Saul Alinsky tactic. Saul is a divider and a destroyer of our civilization.
Be constructive.
And for your information where my son goes to school this basic grammar stuff is taught in the 5th and 6th grades. And as for credibility and an audience; facts are a funny thing, they speak for themselves and I have you for an audience. So I guess that speaks to your mentality as well as mine.
(snicker)
Um, AKJustice, before you bash me on grammar and IQ, I invite you to read your small print signature on all of your (giggle) previous posts above...and I quote, ver batim:
"Let's not get confuse us with the facts, it the allegations that are the most important around here!"
Your words, not mine.
But I'll call it a draw if it makes you happy.
Merry Festivus!
JO
Thanks for the heads up. You got me!
Lib bashing does make me happy, a little.
