Alaska USA Federal Credit Union and the Alaska USA Foundation raised thousands of dollars in the annual Cash for Cans fundraiser. The fundraiser collects cash donations to benefit community food banks.

Throughout the month, members gave to the Cash for Cans drive at their neighborhood Alaska USA branches and donated more than $40,000 combined in Alaska, Washington and California.

Alaska donations benefit Food Bank of Alaska in Anchorage, Food Pantry of Wasilla, Kenai Peninsula Food Bank, Homer Food Pantry, Kodiak Island Food Bank, Fairbanks Community Food Bank, Bethel Lions Club, Southeast Alaska Food Bank and the Salvation Army in Ketchikan.

“This year’s Cash for Cans drive exceeded our expectations as members stepped up to support food banks around the state,” said Janell Adams, vice president for branch administration, Alaska division. “Many food banks have seen increases in demand during the last few years, which has made the need for funds even greater.”

Alaska USA Federal Credit Union is a member-owned, not-for-profit financial cooperative with 62 branches throughout Alaska, California, and Washington.
