FAIRBANKS — A Fairbanks woman charged with leaving her two young children in her car after it slid off the road in temperatures at nearly 30 degrees below zero has been released on bail.
The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reports felony charges against 25-year-old Kristin Smith were dropped.
Alaska State Troopers say Smith told them she left the children in the car to walk a quarter mile to her husband’s home. But troopers say once there she took some prescription medication and fell asleep and never returned to the vehicle.
She was originally charged with two felony counts of endangering the welfare of a minor and two misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment.
The felony counts were dismissed after a preliminary hearing in the case.
The children are in state custody.

People this stupid lose their kids to the state. Many more just slightly less brain dead are able to neglect and mistreat their children and still manage to keep custody so the food stamps and welfare keep coming.
What would have happened if
What would have happened if these children had died while left in the car alone? This "woman" doesn't deserve to have these children and they should never be returned to her.

This woman is let go, the Bingham kid is facing a felony. I hope they do the same thing with him and drop the charges. Obviously, this woman was "reckless" with her kids, just as the charge against Bingham.
Drugs before crash?
I'm pretty sure she had taken her Prescription meds before the crash and was just trying to cover her B*** at the children s expenses. Mother of the year award heading your way.
Wow
How in the heck did the charges get dropped!!! So sad:(
Those poor children. She does not deserve to have those children back. That was such a dangerous situation!!!
It hurts my heart to think they will just let her go with a smack on the hand.
Some people shouldn't have kids.
