JUNEAU — Gov. Sean Parnell has appointed a Palmer man to the Alaska Board of Game.
Peter M. Probasco will serve in the seat held for nearly a year by Lynn Keogh Jr. before Keogh’s appointment was rejected by the Legislature last month.
Probasco’s appointment also is subject to confirmation.
Probasco has an agricultural background, according to biographical information released by Parnell’s office. His professional career includes work as a professor and associate director at the University of Alaska’s Cooperative Extension Service, as well as with the state’s Division of Agriculture. He also worked as an insurance agent.
Parnell’s office says Probasco holds a doctorate in education from the University of Minnesota where he also earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in agriculture education.

Can't find someone with an education and background in biology or wildlife management?
10 to 1 that this guy is just another aerial wolf shooting, bear snaring panderer to the trophy hunting industry.
Yep
"Competent" is not the first word that comes to mind when considering many of Parnell's appointments. Palin was no better in this regard.
Seriously?
My trust in Parnell is just hammered.
His decisions have turned me into a cynic.
Appointee
Another bogus appointment by our hate Alaska gov.!
All that's missing
with Parnell is some face makeup, a red foam ball, and some big floppy shoes.
Clown
Obama already borrowed the makeup, red foam ball and floppy shoes. Do any of you even know Pete Probasco? He's actually a very good man. You're judging him without even knowing much about him.
@Icummings
Being a good man has nothing to do with the appointment! What does he know about wildlife and animals? This it the Board of Game NOT the Board of Agriculture
bill
If you knew the man, you would know that he has a lot of knowledge about those issues. Find out some information about him, see what decisions he makes and then make an informed opinion.
Strike One
He was nominated by Parnell.
LAT
If you're against it, it's probably a good thing.
Oh Rough~
Put your ego back in your pants and move back to New Jersey where there are no wolves.
Maybe he's the man for the job
But the fact that Parnell appointed him makes him suspect by association. I would rather have a farmer on the board than the big game outfitters and lodge owners we have now.
I suppose that next you'll
try to tell us Governor Giveaway is doing a fine job governing too, eh lcummins. What else is in the kool-aid you're drinking?
Good grief, he's the Governor of Alaska and had to be shown how to put on XTRATUF"s...they're boots Sean, you put your foot in the top and pull. Maybe he just isn't qualified to nominate someone for BOG, or most things Alaskan, in the first place. He belongs down south!
Perhaps, he should stick to planning tea and crumpets, or cruises with his pals from Florida. At least there would be some familiarity to the task.
I'm not judging Mr. Probasco, so much as seeing his background is in agriculture education, he was an insurance salesman, and Parnell appointed him...what could possibly go wrong....
