JUNEAU — Alaska’s lone U.S. House member has voted to repeal the federal health care law championed by President Barack Obama.
Rep. Don Young says he realizes the vote, led by House Republicans, was largely symbolic. The Senate is controlled by Democrats, and this is an election year.
But he says the House, with that vote, showed that it cares more about creating jobs and lowering taxes than “increasing Washington’s control over our health care system.”
The vote was 244-185, with five Democrats joining Republicans.
Young says Obama promised the law would create new jobs and lower health care costs, but he says that was “nothing more than a pipe dream.”
Young says he trusts Americans will show their disapproval for the law when they vote this fall.

Thank you Rep.Young. Now we need to work on tossing Begich out as pay back for stabbing us in the back with his vote for BO care!
I knopw Begich will still recieve the votes of the government groupies, & welfare worshipers. But I hope there are more of us that believe in Liberty over serfdom.
Young showed up to
Young showed up to vote?!?!?!?!
Must be an election year
Young had to inconvenience himself to show up to work for a "symbolic vote". Now he can go back to sleeping in his office.
madison.....
spoken like someone who already has health care.
I'm still waiting for details on the magical "replace" portion of the argument
Easier to replace...
...than to repair thousands of pages of muddy water. Another example of "not perfect, but, a good start". Meanwhile, we are stuck with a monstrosity that over half the country doesn't like. Flush it!
Medicare for all!
I too, am shocked that our Congressman actually showed up for a vote and did his job, sort of.
MEDICARE FOR ALL! NOW!
Glad they
Sure glad they are still putting all their efforts into playing games instead of trying to help the American people. This game of fighting back and forth that has been going on for many years has cost us more than any war, and now they are being stupid enough to brag about it.
Well, Jo...
...Medicare for all would certainly cost the taxpayers a d#%& sight less than Obamacare.
How many times have they voted to repeal?
ACA rocks, it is the law of the land. Get over it, move on. How about working on the jobs bill or something that would make a difference in the economy. Who is running against Young? I want to contribute to their campaign!
The more they...
... play these nonsensical games, the more our president pulls ahead: http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2012/president/us/general_electi...
eowyn, Prohibition was once
eowyn,
Prohibition was once the law of the land but it was a bad law that took away peoples freedom and it was repealed…..Obamacare should be treated the same.
Are you really happy having the goverment tell you that you have to buy a private companies product?
This is the 33rd time they've
This is the 33rd time they've voted for the repeal of Obamacare...2 more and they get a free 6" sub!
Angelcrusher
And it costs us 30 million dollars a day everytime they waste a day on this stupid repeal attempt - our tax dollars at work.
Better than...
Sorry angel, but that's better than the 30 million dollars a minute the Affordable Health Care Act will cost taxpayers.
And I think the politicians in DC will hear the screams of every Tier 1 and 2 State employee when they're forced to pay the 40% Cadillac Plan excise tax on the excess premium value of their medical insurance plans starting in 2018!
ACA has been in the works for awhile.
Jobs have taken a back seat. It is as simple as multitasking. Am I to believe the ACA has prevented anyone from taking on the task for two years?
I am concerned about the mechanics of the Health Care Act, but our President has achieved it. Kudos for getting something done!
Now, better late than never, get the country working again please (and I do not mean construction jobs). I am referring to small business hiring the average citizen trying to support a family. There is not a lot of time before election. I am still wavering.
