Safely dispose of unused/expired medication on Saturday

JUNEAU — The Drug Enforcement Administration will be hosting another National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day Saturday, Sept. 29, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Nugget Mall.

People can drop off unused or expired medications free of charge and without providing any personal information. The drugs will then be safely and properly disposed of by the DEA.

The DEA works with local and state agencies to organize Take Back days twice a year — once in spring and once in the fall.

According to their website, a record-breaking 552,161 pounds of unwanted or expired medications was turned in to 5,659 sites across the country earlier this year in April.

This will be fifth DEA sponsored Take-Back Day event.
