Crime of the Week: Burglary at downtown eateries

The Juneau Police Department Crime of the Week for Oct. 12 is in reference to a burglary at a downtown eatery.

Sgt. Paul Hatch said in a release that on Sept. 27 JPD received reports of break-ins at the Manila Sunset Grill House and Tracy’s King Crab Shack, which are situated next to each other just off the cruise ship docks behind the library at 356 South Franklin Street.

Cash was taken from one of the businesses, although police could not disclose which business and how much cash due to the ongoing investigation.

The burglary occurred during the night and was discovered in the morning hours. The release states a police investigation revealed someone had used a prying type tool to open the doors of both the businesses to gain entry.

Anyone with information regarding this or any other crime is encouraged to log onto the Juneau Crime Line at and report the tip. Tipsters are guaranteed anonymity and can be rewarded.
