Juneau firefighters responding to a residential fire alarm on the 5000 block of Douglas Highway at 6:30 p.m. Sunday called off reinforcements after discovering the alarm was activated by smoke from a burnt batch of popcorn.

... Did you know that popcorn melts? It's true! While I was in shower, my little one put popcorn in the microwave. Rather than 2:20, he hit 22:20!! It's actually a black melted goo... Pop corn melts!

House fires have been caused
House fires have been caused by burnt popcorn. Once it's pulled out of the microwave you give that disgusted look. You then shake the bag to see if it can be salvaged. In an act of defeat you toss it in the garbage where it has the opportunity to keep building heat until it ignites the trash.
This same thing happens with those buckwheat pillows that can be microwaved if you set the nukeer to 30 minutes and not 30 seconds.
