The leaders of the Democratic minority for both houses of the incoming 28th Alaska State Legislature will respond Wednesday night to Republican Gov. Sean Parnell’s State of the State address.
House Minority Leader Beth Kerttula, D-Juneau, and Sen. Johnny Ellis, D-Anchorage, who is the incoming Senate minority leader, will give the Democratic caucuses’ response to Parnell’s State of the State speech immediately after it concludes.
Parnell’s speech is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. in the House Chambers of the Alaska State Capitol.
The Democrats’ response will be given in the Fahrenkamp Committee Room, located on the second floor of the Capitol.

Parnell's got a complete 'rubber stamp' legislature now. The oil tax giveaway is a done deal.
I miss Frank Murkowski.
They should give their
They should give their response on January 19, 2013 when the march on the state capitals for Gun Appreciation Day at 12:00 P.M. happens.
Do it right!
Come on Beth, follow Dennis' example--join the majority for the good of Juneau!

We need a two-party system, snagger
No good would come of Beth making the GOP even stronger. Their majorities are arrogant enough, and will always stick it to Juneau no matter what...the majority of the majority in both houses are "pro-move" obsessives, and they won't stop 'til they've built their long dreamed of Brasilia-of-the-North.
Better for all of us for Beth to work to help build HER party, and to help provide alternatives to the ugliness that Lil' Seanie and his mob are trying to create.
We need somebody there to oppose the petrocracy.
Beth...
is an alternate for the refreshment committee.
She and her supporters are completely out of touch with most Alaskans.
Glad to see the majority of Legislators lining up with the Governor. Good things are about to happen.
Yeah,Beth........please explain your VECO connections.
Most Alaskans don't WANT a $2 billion giveaway to Big Oil
Most Alaskans don't really think that the petrocracy should get to take even MORE money out of the state and do nothing in return.
They want jobs, but they know that putting huge additional amounts of the wealth of Alaska, the wealth the Alaskan PEOPLE own, into secret accounts in the Caymans is not the way to do that.
"Trickle-down" didn't work with the Outside economy. It especially can't work when you're waiting for North Slope Crude to trickle-down on us.
The real problem has been that the Democrats have been too obsessed with looking "safe" and "pro-business", and haven't been willing to fight for bold alternatives.
But it's clear that letting the petrocracy have its way with this state can't possibly be good for the people of this state. We don't benefit from the money going away.
Glad see "Red Ken" surface
Glad see "Red Ken" surface again. Taking a break from worshiping the "Lord of the Moochers", & celebrating his re-election.
Unfortunately for you Ken, & your Liberty hating comrades, what you consider " bold alternatives", is nothing more than Marxism. Some thing the vast majority of Alaskans reject.
When they switch to McCarthyism
They've admitted that they've lost the argument.
I'm no Marxist(and, actually, Karl Marx himself said that HE wasn't "a Marxist", for the record)...just another person with a mind of my own.
Liberty doesn't require corporate domination, nor does it require the majority to treat the rich as if they were gods who walk the earth. Freedom is, however, inseperable from a deep commitment to human equality and to mutual respect for everybody. And, basically, that's not much different from what Jesus was talking about in the Sermon On The Mount...but, then again, that's probably why the Un-Roman Activities Committee threw the book at him.
