The public has until Aug. 12 to comment on a halibut catch sharing plan for Southeast and Central Gulf fisheries.
The plan would replace the charter guideline harvest level by instead allocating a percentage of the commercial and charter combined catch limit in each area. That limit would be determined annually by the International Pacific Halibut Commission.
The plan would also authorize transfers of commercial halibut individual fishing quota to charter halibut permit holders under the “guided angler fish” program.
