Begich raises nearly $1M in 2nd quarter

JUNEAU — U.S. Sen. Mark Begich raised nearly $1 million toward his re-election effort during the second quarter of the year.

Begich reported having $2 million on hand at the end of June.

The summary of Begich’s latest financial disclosure to the Federal Election Commission was provided by Begich’s campaign. The full report was not immediately available Monday.

He brought in about $993,000 between April 1 and June 30. That figure includes more than $527,000 in contributions from individuals and more than $415,000 from political action committees.

Begich is a first-term Democrat seeking re-election next year. Republicans have seen the Alaska Senate seat as critical to their efforts to regain control of the Senate.

His announced challengers include Republicans Joe Miller and Lt. Gov. Mead Treadwell.
