Driver cited after semi-truck overturns on highway

ANCHORAGE — Alaska State Troopers say a 45-year-old Wasilla man has been cited for negligent driving after his semi-truck overturned on the Parks Highway.

Troopers say they were notified Thursday about the accident involving Russell Bowman.

Troopers say Bowman was traveling north and hauling methane when the semi-truck drifted off the roadway near mile 215, which is in the Cantwell area.

According to troopers, Bowman try to correct the vehicle back on the roadway but the trailer started to jackknife. That caused the vehicle and trailer to flip over on their sides.

Troopers say a small amount of diesel fuel spilled from the semi’s fuel tank, but it was quickly contained. Troopers say no methane spilled from the tanker.

Bowman was not injured. He could not be reached for comment Friday.
