Woman’s body recovered from Resurrection Bay

ANCHORAGE — Authorities in Seward have recovered the body of a woman from Resurrection Bay near Fourth of July Creek.

KTUU-TV reports police have not determined whether it’s the same woman reported missing earlier this month.

Fourth of July Creek is across Resurrection Bay from the Seward Small Boat Harbor.

The body of 51-year-old Patrick Richard was recovered Jan. 18 near a boat in the harbor, where he and a female companion had spent the night.

The body was found after the man and woman failed to board a charter bus back to Anchorage.

Seward Police Department Chief Tom Clemons says the woman’s body, found Sunday, will be reviewed by the state medical examiner for positive identification and cause of death.
