Valdez man dies of heart attack while skiing

ANCHORAGE — Alaska State Troopers say a 49-year-old Valdez man has died after suffering a heart attack while skiing at Alyeska Ski Resort.

Troopers say they were notified shortly after 4 p.m. Wednesday that medics were performing CPR on Thomas Schantz at the Girdwood resort.

Medics were unable to resuscitate Schantz, who had been at the resort with family.

Troopers say no foul play is suspected.
