New Begich ad touts cooperation with Murkowski

JUNEAU — U.S. Sen. Mark Begich is out with a new ad touting the level of cooperation between him and Alaska's senior senator, Republican Lisa Murkowski.

Murkowski pushed back against a similar radio ad from the Democrat, saying that while they agree on many issues specific to Alaska, they differ on a number of national issues. A Murkowski spokesman referred a reporter to comments Murkowski made to the Wall Street Journal, that Begich should run on his own record.

Begich, who is facing a hotly contested bid for re-election, has said that he and Murkowski vote together more than any other split-party delegation, in an effort to show they can put politics aside for the good of Alaska.

Begich spokesman Max Croes said Alaskans like seeing the state's congressional delegation working together.
