JUNEAU — The Senate Judiciary Committee is planning to hold a crime summit Wednesday afternoon.
A focus will be on reducing Alaska's recidivism rates.
In a press release, the committee's chair, Sen. Lesil McGuire, said if the state continues on the path it's on, it will have to build a new prison. She says the summit is about looking at ways to help non-violent offenders get out of jail and stay out of jail permanently.
The summit is scheduled from noon until 4:45 p.m. in Juneau.
