Medallions for 50th Statehood Anniversary now available
Priced at $45, the medallion sales will help fund statehood celebrations throughout the Juneau community.
Just in time for the holidays, Capital City Celebrations is now selling limited editions of the Alaska Statehood 50th Anniversary commemorative medallion.

Priced at $45, the medallion sales will help fund statehood celebrations throughout the Juneau community. The bronze medallion is a recasting of the original statehood medallion minted 50 years ago. Only the date (1959-2009) has been changed. The coin exhibits the Alaska State Seal and on the reverse is the outline of Alaska superimposed on the map of the lower 48 states.

The 50th Statehood medallions, pins and posters will be sold by members of CCC Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 8 and 9, at the Nugget Mall and other locations to be announced. Orders may also be placed by contacting juneaucelebrates@yahoo.com.

Tickets to the Jan. 3 Statehood Ball (50th anniversary of President Eisenhower's signing of the Statehood Bill) are available at Hearthside Books. Tickets are $50 for a fun-filled evening highlighted with the music of The Diamonds, (www.thediamond.cc). Family Statehood Day is planned for Jan. 4 and will include a community bonfire and fireworks.
