JUNEAU - Hunters are reminded that all of Unit 4 is now closed for the hunting of brown bears (registration hunt RB077) beginning Thursday, Dec. 31. Additionally, the registration hunt (RG150) for mountain goats on Baranof Island is now also closed.
For brown bears, the area includes all of Admiralty, Baranof and Chichagof islands, as well as smaller islands within the unit.
Successful hunters must report their harvest within 10 days of a kill and must have the bear sealed within 30 days.
Officials would like to remind Individuals who obtained registration permits for brown bears this fall to complete and return their hunt report cards to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game office in Sitka by close of business Jan. 15. Unsuccessful hunters and hunters who registered but did not hunt may report online at www.hunt.alaska.gov. All hunters who received permits must submit reports, even if they did not hunt.
For mountain goats, all successful hunters must submit their hunt report and goat horns for age and sex identification within 5 days of the kill.
Unsuccessful hunters and hunters who registered but did not hunt must return their completed hunt reports to the ADF&G office in Sitka by the close of business Jan. 15. Reports can also be filed online at www.hunt.alaska.gov. All hunters who received permits must submit reports, even if they did not hunt.
