JUNEAU - Becky Bohrer, a reporter for The Associated Press in New Orleans, has been named correspondent in Juneau.

Bohrer's appointment was announced Thursday by Chief of Bureau Nancy Trott. She succeeds Steve Quinn, who joined AP's regional editing desk in Philadelphia last year.

Bohrer began her career with the AP in 1999, helping cover the state Legislature in Bismarck, N.D., her home state. She later transferred to Des Moines, Iowa, where her duties included helping cover the Legislature and presidential politics.

Bohrer was AP's first correspondent in Billings, Mont., where she covered environmental and land-use issues, agriculture, American Indian issues and federal courts.

In 2006, she transferred to New Orleans to cover the recovery of the city and region from Hurricane Katrina.
