Witt named MADD youth coordinator

Amy Witt is the new Youth In Action Southeast Coordinator for the Mothers Against Drunk Driving's Juneau chapter.

Youth In Action is made up of teen-age and adult volunteers who address underage drinking and drunken driving through education, public speaking, media contacts, local events and other projects, according to MADD.

Witt will be in charge of MADD's Youth in Action programs in Ketchikan, Sitka and Wrangell. She will work out of MADD's Juneau office.

Hunt graduates from Army basic training

Army Pvt. Lester A. Hunt Jr. has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga.

The soldier received training in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history and traditions.

During infantry training, he developed basic combat skills andbattlefield operations and tactics, and experienced using various weapons and weapons defenses available to the infantry crewman.

Hunt is the son of Margaret and Lester Hunt of 9023 Gee St., Juneau.

He is a 2001 graduate of Juneau- Douglas High School.
