Longtime Alaska resident Lowell (Bert) Goodwin died Dec. 11, 2001, in Imperial Beach, Calif.
He was born Aug. 20, 1933, in Bellingham, Wash. When he was 5, he and his family moved to Alaska.
In 1954, he moved to Juneau with his wife Elaine and worked for the state as a heavy equipment operator and highway maintenance foreman until his retirement. He and his wife also owned the Fashion Fabrics building for a number of years.
He was enrolled in the Masonic Lodge on May 13, 1974, and joined the Scottish Rite Temple as a 32 degree member in March 1976. He belonged to Igloo 6 of the Pioneers of Alaska, and was a member of the Elk's Lodge.
