Mayor Bruce Botelho, right, presents James Gamez, 18, with the Eagle Scout award in the scout Court of Honor on Dec. 16 at Resurrection Lutheran Church. Gamez is a freshman at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff. He completed many hours of community service to receive this honor, including refurbishing the exterior of one of the buildings at Resurrection Lutheran and landscaping the area. He was a team captain for the Juneau-Douglas High School hockey team. Gamez also attended the 2005 national Boy Scout Jamboree in Virginia and received the Outstanding Senior Russian Department award as part of his high school accomplishments.
