COMTECH 2001 volunteers sought

Volunteers are needed for COMTECH 2001, which will take place at Centennial Hall Feb. 7-9.

Registration and session volunteers are needed to help training seminars, hands-on labs, panel discussions and a technology trade show run smoothly. A two-hour volunteering session earns one COMTECH session pass, four hours earns two. Contact Joan Pardes at 586-6806, or visit www.alaskacomtech.com.

City seeks youth program providers

The Juneau Parks and Recreation Department is requesting proposals from interested public or nonprofit organizations for the delivery of various youth activity programs. Youth Activity Grant applications are due by 2 p.m. March 2. Pick them up at the Parks and Rec department in City Hall, or call 586-5226 for further information.

Two adult education courses offered

Two Tutor Training and Refresher courses are being offered by the Juneau Adult Education Center. The first is Jan. 10, the second Jan. 11. Both are from 5:15 to 7:15 p.m.

Show focuses on Prince of Wales Island

The first program of the 2001 Fireside Series is scheduled at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center theater.

Scott Foster will present "Paddling Prince of Wales and More." The show is appropriate for all ages.

Additional programs are scheduled Fridays through March 23. Schedules are available at the visitor center, Juneau Ranger District and the Forest Service Information Center at Centennial Hall.
