Robert H. (Bob) Crabtree
Juneau resident Robert H. (Bob) Crabtree died Dec. 23, 1999, at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after a brief illness.
He was born May 19, 1922, in Woodland, Calif. He served in the Air Force during World War II and graduated as a civil engineer from the University of Nevada, Reno, in 1960.
He began his engineering career with the City of Los Angeles Public Works Department, and later worked for the city of Oxnard, Calif. He became interested in sailing during this time and he and his wife Pat came up the coast to Southeast Alaska in 1977. They made Juneau their home in 1985. He retired from the City of Juneau in 1991. He enjoyed cruising Southeast waters in his sailboat Footloose every summer.
Last summer he and his wife Pat celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in Wrangell.
He is survived by his wife Pat of Juneau; daughter Dale Crabtree and grandsons Aaron and Jason Lopez of Santa Paula, Calif. He has many relatives in Valdez and California.
Burial services were held Dec. 30, 1999 in Monterey, Calif.
A memorial service will be held in Juneau at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Cathedral of the Nativity Catholic Church.
Maria Paige Lane
Former Juneau resident Maria Paige Lane died Dec. 30, 1999, at her home in Cookeville, Tenn., following an extended illness.
She was born Sept. 11, 1995, in Juneau, to Andrew Preston and Angelic Maria Reid Lane. She left Juneau when she was about a year and a half old.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather Preston Lane and her great-grandmother Evelyn Reid.
She is survived by her parents, her grandmother Julie Nowlin Lane, uncle John Taylor Lane and her brother Preston, all of Cookeville, Tenn., grandparents Steven H. and Lynda Joyce Reid of Juneau, great grandparents Ernest and Bunny Dohrman of Anchorage, aunt Susan Paige Lane of Ohio and numerous great aunts and uncles.
Services were held Sunday in Tennessee.
Memorials may be made in her name to Vanderbilt Children's Hospital, 2424 Garland Ave, Nashville, TN, 37212, for clinical study on Wilm's tumor research.
Rosaline (Rose) Beierly Patterson
Longtime Juneau resident Rosaline (Rose) Beierly Patterson died Dec. 10, 1999, in Seattle from leukemia.
She was born June 30, 1942, in Juneau, and lived most of her life in Juneau. She lived in Sitka for five or six years, returned to Juneau in the mid 1980s.
She was preceded in death by her sister Roberta Beierly, her father Robert P. Beierly Sr., grandparents Minnie and Eli Howard and by her son David A. Pittman in October.
She is survived by her children Tom L. Pittman VII of Anchorage, Dan Pittman, Jody Pittman and Jimmie Patterson of Seattle, step-children Rena, Valerie and Eric Patterson of California and Washington, her mother Ida Beierly, brother Robert P. Beierly II of Juneau and Josephine Armstrong of Washington, six grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relations.
She was a shareholder in Shee Attika, Sealaska and a member of Tlingit and Haida Community Council.
Memorial services will be held 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 6, 2000, at Tlingit and Haida Community Building. Services will be combined with the memorial services for her son, who also died recently.
A funeral service and spreading of ashes will take place in the spring in Juneau.
