Widowed Persons Program sponsors Sunday brunch

JUNEAU - The Widowed Persons Program is sponsoring a brunch at noon Sunday at Capital Cafe in the Baranof Hotel. Please note the location change.

Mitey Mites ski program accepts applications for 10-week program

JUNEAU - The Mitey Mites ski program is now accepting applications for its 10-week program which starts this weekend.

Mitey Mites introduces young skiers between the ages of 7 and 12 to ski racing in small groups with Eaglecrest Ski Area instructors, with the objectives of improving skiing skills and having fun. Participants choose between half-day options on Saturdays or Sundays, from 9:30 a.m. to noon, or full days on Saturdays.

More information and registration forms are available at the Juneau Ski Club's Web site at www.juneauskiracing.org. Forms can be picked up at Foggy Mountain Sports, the Nugget Alaskan Outfitter or Eaglecrest Ski Area. Registration forms can be mailed or dropped off at Eaglecrest.

Juneau Student Symphony to host reading rehearsal

JUNEAU - The Juneau Student Symphony will host a reading rehearsal from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7, in the Juneau-Douglas High School band room.

The reading rehearsal is an opportunity to experience an orchestral rehearsal and sight read some easier orchestral music with a group of like-minded musicians. The rehearsal is free and open to musicians of all ages and ability levels.

SEARHC to host Denali Kid Care pediatric dental clinic

SITKA - The SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital Dental Clinic in Sitka will host a special pediatric dental clinic next week, Jan. 7-11.

This special pediatric clinic will feature dental examination appointments on Monday and Tuesday, Jan. 7-8, with follow-up treatment taking place later in the week. The clinic is open to children younger than 18 years old who are currently enrolled in the Denali KidCare program or Medicaid. Dr. Kristi Linsenmayer will lead the pediatric dental team for this special clinic.

SEARHC will also conduct pediatric dental clinics in Kake, Jan. 14-18; Haines, Jan. 28-Feb. 1; and Yakutat, Feb. 4-8.

To schedule an appointment for an exam in Sitka, call the SEARHC Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital Dental Clinic at (907) 966-8343. Kake residents should call Selma Jackson at the SEARHC Kake Health Center at (907) 785-3333. Haines residents can call Michele Wing at (907) 766-6372. Yakutat residents can call the Yakutat Community Health Center at (907) 784-3275 to schedule an exam appointment.
