Alexander "Bill" Gillespie died Dec. 4, 2007, in Lakeport, Calif.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Martha Gillespie; two daughters, Catherine Jackson and Mary Evans; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Juneau.
Family members said he will be remembered in Juneau for his many years of search-and-rescue flying for the Civil Air Patrol and for his service for the Juneau Police Department. They said his 38 years in Juneau were some of his happiest.
