Wainwright soldier busted in sex sting
FAIRBANKS - A soldier in the 1-25th Stryker Brigade Combat Team stationed at Fort Wainwright is accused of sending nude photos of himself to an undercover officer posing online as a 14-year-old girl.
Sgt. Daniel R. Bloodworth, 33, is charged with online enticement of a minor and electronic distribution of indecent material to a minor.
In cooperation with Alaska State Troopers and the Alaska Bureau of Investigation, a University of Alaska Fairbanks police officer posed as a 14-year-old girl in a chat room last week to seek out possible Internet predators.
When confronted by troopers, Bloodworth said he thought sex was possible but added that he thought the "girl" might be 18 because he had arranged meetings with people online before and they were not who they said they were, according to the complaint.

Police seek robber of Eagle River theater
ANCHORAGE - Anchorage police are looking for a masked man who robbed an Eagle River movie theater at gunpoint on New Year's Day.
Police say the man was wearing a ski mask when he entered the Valley River 6 Cinemas around 8 p.m. and demanded that everyone get to the floor.
According to police, the man then hopped a counter, stole money from a cash register and an office and ran out.
Police say they found tire marks near the building that may be linked to the robbery.
The robber is described as around 6 feet tall with a thin build. Police say he was wearing a dark hoodie jacket, dark pants and sunglasses.
Statehood show to feature Thunderbirds
ANCHORAGE - The Arctic Thunder air show is coming back to Alaska in June after a yearlong absence.
The event features the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds. This year's show is scheduled for June 28-29 and will celebrate Alaska's 50th year of statehood.
Activities will include civilian participation as well as military demonstrations involving C-17s, F-15s and F-22s.
An Air Force spokeswoman said the two-day event in 2006 drew 137,000 people to Elmendorf Air Force Base. The air show has since gone from an annual event to one held every other year.
The change was made because of budget cuts and worldwide deployments of Elmendorf airmen.
Collision damages trooper patrol vehicle
FAIRBANKS - Alaska State Troopers are investigating a collision involving a patrol vehicle in Fairbanks that caused $8,000 in damage.
According to troopers spokeswoman Megan Peters, trooper Adam Benson had to kick through a window to get out because of severe damage to the vehicle.
The accident occurred late Thursday morning when Benson was driving north on Cushman Street.
Troopers say Clois Fitzhugh was driving a van and turned right from the center lane on Cushman onto 18th Avenue.
According to troopers, Benson's vehicle struck the van, causing about $2,000 in damage. The officer's vehicle then hit a utility pole.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts and were not hurt.
